About
Angels Care has built a comprehensive holistic care model in Howick's greater community — one that recognises that children's wellbeing, GBV response, food security, and education are not separate problems but interlocking ones. Their White Door Crisis Centre and educational and nutritional programmes work in parallel: a child who is safe, fed, and learning grows into an adult less likely to perpetrate or experience violence.
Their core values — faith, respect, partnership, integrity, courage, discipline, accountability, compassion, diversity, and impact — reflect an organisation that understands that care work requires both heart and rigour.
What They Offer Survivors and Children
White Door Health and Crisis Centre — GBV and Sexual Assault Support Angels Care's White Door Health and Crisis Centre provides dedicated support for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, abuse, and neglect in the Howick area. The centre is staffed by: - A full-time social worker - A social auxiliary worker - A registered nurse - Two community caregivers - A part-time forensic nurse
The forensic nurse is significant — forensic nursing for GBV survivors is a specialist capacity that enables survivors to undergo clinical examination and evidence collection without having to travel to a hospital. This means survivors in the greater Howick area can access the medical and evidentiary support they need locally. Emergency line: 063 892 0358.
Preschool — 150 Children, Ages 3–6 Angels Care runs a registered preschool for 150 children from indigent homes in Howick — providing quality early childhood education as a foundation for healthy development and a pathway out of intergenerational poverty. A Bridging Class supports 10 children who need additional preparation before entering Grade R.
Daily Nutrition Programme — 310 Children During the week, 310 children receive daily meals at the Angels Care Centre — addressing food insecurity in one of the most direct and measurable ways possible. Every Saturday, 350 children receive sandwiches, fruit, and yoghurt at the Centre.
Afterschool Programme An afterschool programme provides supervision, homework support, and structured activities for school-age children after hours — keeping children safe and engaged during the high-risk hours between school closing and parents returning home.
Community Outreach Angels Care reaches beyond their buildings into the surrounding community — through educational talks, awareness, and outreach to families who cannot come to the centre.
