About
Bafenyi Trust is a community-driven, faith-based development organisation rooted in Ikageng and Promosa — two disadvantaged communities adjacent to Potchefstroom. Founded in 2009 with a deep conviction that every person deserves dignity, purpose, and love, Bafenyi works to address both physical and spiritual poverty through a range of integrated programmes. They are a registered Public Benefit Organisation with Section 18A SARS status (donations are tax-deductible).
Their approach is explicitly community-led — they partner with like-minded organisations and mobilise local networks to multiply their impact, rather than working in isolation.
What They Offer Vulnerable Families and Youth
Weekly Feeding and Nutrition Hot, nutritious meals are provided weekly to children and adults in Ikageng and Promosa — addressing the most basic need: food. For many families in these communities, this is a critical safety net.
Pre-School Support Bafenyi supports pre-schools in their communities — providing blankets, food, learning materials, and training for pre-school staff. Sponsors from the community are matched with pre-schools to make ongoing contributions.
Kids' Clubs For children who are not raised in nurturing or safe environments, Bafenyi's Kids' Clubs offer a safe haven where children can experience love, receive a nutritious meal, and engage in age-appropriate activities. This is particularly important for children in households affected by violence or poverty.
Adult Discipleship and Life Skills Groups Six weekly groups run across the community, ministering to 300 adults through life skills training, counselling, and personal development — with the aim of building responsible, compassionate individuals who can positively contribute to their families and communities.
Community Centre — Promosa Hub Bafenyi has built a community centre in Promosa, providing a physical space for networking, training, and collaboration between organisations and community members.
Partnerships for Greater Impact Bafenyi partners with organisations including Feisty Females and Fire and Fragrance South Africa to reach more people and provide a broader range of services than any single organisation could alone.
Bafenyi Trust serves Ikageng, Promosa, and Potchefstroom in North West Province. Contact them via www.bafenyi.org.za or call 082 332 2369.
