About
Helping Those In Need was founded in January 2017 by a husband and wife who had themselves known hunger, suicidal despair, near-marital collapse, and the grinding difficulty of poverty — and who built an organisation from that lived knowing. Their approach is not a feeding scheme. It is a relationship. They do not drop a food parcel and walk away. They come back, three times a week, to evaluate progress, encourage change, and walk alongside families until they no longer need to.
Their founding conviction: "We are not a feeding scheme but feed Change, Hope and an Opportunity to better life through a meal and empowering the family to self-sustain themselves after we leave."
What They Offer Survivors and Vulnerable Families
Daily Cooked Meals and Weekly Soup Kitchen Hot, nutritious meals are provided daily and through a weekly soup kitchen — because hunger is never just hunger. A meal is a relationship, an opening, a first step.
Clothing Families and Children Clothing is distributed to children and families in need — including to residents of children's homes in the city.
Finding Safe Homes for the Destitute When people are on the streets, Helping Those In Need actively works to find them safe accommodation — connecting people with available shelter options and walking that process with them.
House Visits Three Times a Week Rather than once-off interventions, the team conducts house visits three times a week to follow up on the families they are supporting — monitoring progress, providing encouragement, and ensuring no family slips back without notice.
Practical Life Navigation The team helps people with the practical barriers that keep them stuck: printing CVs, driving people to job interviews, accompanying them to clinic visits, and establishing a clear picture of every family's needs — food, employment, clothing, family circumstances.
Biblical and Spiritual Support As a Christian organisation, daily prayer, spiritual support, and equipping households with a biblical foundation are woven into their approach for those who want it. All are welcomed regardless of faith background.
Foster Care for Abused and Abandoned Children The founding couple personally fosters abused and abandoned children — putting their own family on the line for the children most overlooked by the system.
