About
Just Grace is a Cape Town-based non-profit organisation founded in 2012 in Langa — one of South Africa's oldest townships — with a singular mission: meaningful, sustainable poverty alleviation and community empowerment through evidence-based programmes. They are known for their rigorous, data-driven approach to impact — using real-time monitoring systems, biometric attendance tracking, and regular programme evaluations to ensure that every intervention genuinely changes lives.
Their programmes are built around three pillars that work together: technical skills, soft skills, and psychosocial support — recognising that economic empowerment is impossible without emotional wellbeing, and that education and jobs alone cannot heal a person who is carrying unaddressed trauma.
While Just Grace is not primarily a GBV crisis service, their integrated psychosocial support, counselling, social work, and parent support groups make them a meaningful resource for survivors living in Langa who need wraparound community support alongside, or following, crisis intervention.
What They Offer Survivors and Families
Social Work and Counselling Just Grace employs qualified social workers and counsellors who provide individual sessions, home visits, and community-based support to vulnerable members of the Langa community. If you are a survivor living in Langa who needs ongoing emotional support, counselling, or practical guidance, Just Grace can help.
Parent and Caregiver Support Groups Support groups for parents and caregivers are run regularly — providing community, shared strategies, and professional guidance for adults navigating the challenges of raising children in difficult circumstances, including households affected by violence or trauma.
Qhubeka Youth Development Programme An intensive multi-year support programme beginning in Grade 9 and continuing into further education and employment — providing academic support, life skills, computer training, coding, literacy, psychosocial support, career guidance, job shadowing, sports, and culture. This programme is a lifeline for young people at risk of dropping out of school due to instability or trauma at home.
Phuhlisa School Strengthening Programme At five high schools in and around Langa, Just Grace supports learner wellbeing and educational retention through home visits, individual counselling, career guidance, and life skills for at-risk learners — identifying and reaching young people who might otherwise fall through the cracks.
Phakama Youth Activation Programme For unemployed and disengaged youth aged 17–27, this programme reignites direction through personal and professional development, computer skills, and vocational training in areas like barista skills, accounting, and crafts. Psychosocial support is embedded throughout.
Cela Coffee — Social Enterprise Just Grace operates Cela Coffee, a social enterprise barista training and coffee service that creates real employment opportunities for Langa youth and generates sustainable income for Just Grace's programmes.
Just Grace is based in Langa Township. Visit their office at 6 Moffat Street, Langa, or contact them via www.justgrace.co.za for counselling, social work, or youth programme access.
