LVVF's focus on OVC welfare, gender equality education, and community empowerment addresses these root causes.

About

The name "Litshani Vhana-Vha-De" means "Feed These Children" in Tshivenda — and that is the foundation's core commitment: daily care for more than 150 orphans, vulnerable, and disadvantaged children in the villages and rural communities of Thulamela. LVVF provides basic necessities including food and clothing to children in its care, develops their skills and talents, and works to ensure their safety, well-being, and healthy development — in partnership with Child Welfare South Africa and with support from FNB, Shoprite Phangami, and Vhembe FM radio. Beyond direct child care, LVVF promotes gender equality and human rights across the communities it serves, educating community members — women, men, and youth — about their rights and working toward a society with access to social justice, education, and employment. Its founder has been recognised with a community philanthropy award for her work, which she describes as opening doors and networks previously inaccessible to rural Vhembe communities. LVVF's board is community-rooted, with new members appointed from Gondeni Strekstroom at the August 2025 AGM. For direct GBV victim crisis support in Vhembe: TVEP Thohoyandou (previously listed) / Life Savers Foundation Makuya (above) / GBV Command Centre 0800 428 428 (toll-free, 24/7) / Childline 116 (24/7).
