About
MPCADP provides free, basic paralegal advice, pro bono legal services, social and economic guidance, substance abuse prevention and referral, and crisis line support to the indigent community of Mitchells Plain and surrounding areas. Its integrated crisis line provides telephonic support for people experiencing domestic violence, GBV, and emotional crisis. For GBV survivors, the centre's paralegal services are particularly important: free guidance on protection orders, maintenance, DV rights, SASSA access, eviction, and housing. Advocacy — actively helping community members navigate government services — forms a core part of the work. Mitchells Plain is one of Cape Town's largest and most resource-constrained townships; a free community advice centre with an integrated crisis line is a critical first point of contact for residents who would otherwise have no access to legal or psychosocial help.
