New Beginningz

ew BeginningZ is a Pretoria-based child welfare NPO founded in 2001 with a clear focus: protecting the most vulnerable children in South Africa, aged newborn to 18 years. NBZ describes its mission as supporting orphaned, abandoned, abused, neglected, and medically vulnerable children — and it is particularly known for its **NBZ Baby Haven**, **Programmes:** 1. **NBZ Baby Haven — Place of Safety for Babies and Toddlers (0–5 years)** The flagship programme. A 24-hour residential care facility for abandoned, abused, neglected, and medically compromised babies and toddlers — including those with special medical needs, children born with HIV/AIDS, and babies surrendered by mothers in crisis. NBZ is confirmed as the **largest private (non-government-funded) place of safety in Gauteng**, caring for 30+ children at any time. Services are not demarcated by geographic catchment — they serve the entire North Rand Region and neighbouring provinces. 2. **ECD Services — Iterileng, Laudium** Early childhood development programme in the Iterileng community (Laudium, Pretoria) — providing early learning and developmental support for children aged 0–6. 3. **PowerGirls Programme** Youth empowerment and development for girls — equipping young women with skills, confidence, and life orientation. GBV-adjacent prevention work. 4. **AfterCare Programme** After-school support for children in Laudium/Iterileng. 5. **Holiday Programmes** Structured holiday care and activities for children. 6. **Community Outreach and Assistance** Direct community engagement, support for families in crisis, referrals, and social development work in Laudium and surrounding communities. 7. **New BeginningZ Children's Village (planned)** NBZ has secured an 8,000m² property in Raslouw, Pretoria (donated by the Hassim Foundation) for a future children's village — providing long-term residential care and holistic support for children who will be with NBZ into young adulthood. **GBV relevance:** NBZ is a child protection organisation — its primary GBV relevance is: - Receiving and caring for **babies and children born to or abandoned by GBV survivors** who are unable to care for their children - Caring for children removed from households where GBV, abuse, or neglect is occurring - Receiving **child abuse referrals** from SAPS, DSD social workers, and hospitals - **PowerGirls** provides prevention-focused empowerment for girls at risk - For adult GBV survivors in crisis, refer to dedicated survivor services; NBZ is the correct referral if children need emergency place of safety
