About

A multi-service women and family centre founded in 2008 in Lavender Hill, one of Cape Town's most challenged Cape Flats communities (100,000 people, five informal settlements, high levels of gang violence, drug abuse, and GBV). PAB's name — "Philisa Abafazi Bethu" — means "Heal Our Women" in isiXhosa, and its work is exactly that: healing women, protecting families, and transforming community. Ten programmes: Emergency Safe Houses (residential shelter for GBV/DV survivors and their children); Social Work Services (statutory and non-statutory, child protection, GBV case management); Women Empowerment (skills, counselling, economic independence); Afterschool and Youth Programmes (children and teenagers); Senior Programme (elder welfare); Men's Café (addressing masculinity norms and GBV prevention with men); Community Feeding (food parcels and food security); Baby Saver (legal infant drop-off, fostering/adoption linked); and a Search and Rescue Team (community emergency response including missing persons). All services free. GBV crisis: 0800 428 428 (toll-free, 24/7).
