Beth Shan (a Hebrew name meaning "house of rest and security") is a Salvation Army residential shelter for abused women and their children, located in Pretoria West, Tshwane, Gauteng. It operates under the Central Division of the Salvation Army Southern Africa Territory and is registered with the Department of Social Development (NPO 021-030).

Services Offered

Beth Shan provides a comprehensive residential programme aligned with the Salvation Army's national Work with Abused Women and Children framework:

Programme Model

Following the national Salvation Army shelter model, Beth Shan uses a phased empowerment approach — beginning with a stabilisation phase for newly arrived women, progressing through structured skills and healing programmes, and moving toward supported independence. Residents are not turned away due to inability to pay.

Who They Serve

Women and their dependent children who are survivors of domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, or other forms of gender-based violence. Services are open to women of all races and backgrounds.
