SAPS Eendekuil (FCS) Sexual Violence Unit

SAPS

About

The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit is a specialised detective division within SAPS dedicated to investigating crimes against the most vulnerable members of society. The unit handles sexual offences including rape and sexual assault, domestic and family violence, crimes against children, and electronic media-facilitated offences such as child pornography. FCS detectives are specially trained to handle sensitive cases and avoid secondary victimisation, and operate designated Victim Friendly Rooms at police facilities to provide a safe, non-threatening environment for taking statements. The unit works closely with Thuthuzela Care Centres, Forensic Social Workers, and other specialised divisions to ensure victims receive immediate medical, psychosocial, and legal assistance. FCS units play a central role in combating Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) across South Africa, with 185 operational units nationwide.
